5th Workshop on Categorical Methods in Non-Abelian Algebra

Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to you to confirm that the « 5th Workshop on Categorical Methods in Non-Abelian Algebra » will take place at the Université catholique de Louvain from Thursday June 1st to Saturday June 3rd 2017. We hope you will be interested in participating in it! The website of the workshop will be ready soon, and we shall send you a second email when the registration will be open.

After discussing the name of the « network » whose creation was discussed in Coimbra at the « 4th Workshop on Categorical Methods in Non-Abelian Algebra », also with other colleagues in our research fields, we believe that the title «Category Theory, Algebra, and Topology» would be the most suitable for it. The website of the network will be hosted by the Université catholique de Louvain, and Tim Van der Linden (Louvain-la-Neuve) has kindly accepted to administrate it, in collaboration with Diana Rodelo (Coimbra), Beppe Metere (Palermo) and Zurab Janelidze (Stellenbosch). The announcements of conferences of interest and of university seminars in these subjects could be published on this website, as well as openings of academic positions, doctoral and post-doctoral research grants, and abstracts of articles of interest for the mathematicians working in these fields. In particular the announcements of the conferences of the series « CatAlg » and « Categorical Methods in Non-Abelian Algebra” will be published on this website. A mailing list of the participants in the « network » will be created soon: you will be informed about this, and we hope you will join this mailing list.

There will be a « steering committee » for the network, to be sure that the announcements on the website are of interest for the people on the mailing list. We propose it to be composed by

– Maria Manuel Clementino (Coimbra)
– Marino Gran (Louvain-la-Neuve)
– George Janelidze (Cape Town)
– Sandra Mantovani (Milano)

With very best wishes to all,

Maria Manuel Clementino and Marino Gran
